I have been using batchpatch on and off for about a year at our company, and i have a purchased license for it, works wonderfully with WSUS (when using pass-through auth). Although I want to be able to deploy .exe/.msi files via it on VMs.

now would be a perfect time to try it since the recent java / jdk security issue which makes it mandatory to update to the latest java asap.

i have tried using “patch deployment” for the java.exe file, it copies it fine to the VM, but then nothing happens. it was run with -s -h switches (default)

    any tips / ideas?

First, make sure you have the latest version of BatchPatch. Then take a look at the following links posted below. Before you can deploy software or run any exe remotely you need to determine what command line switches are required to perform a silent installation. If you don’t, then the exe will get copied to the remote machines, but when it’s executed it will hang indefinitely while waiting for user input to click through the installer prompts, but the installer won’t be visible anywhere.
