Hello,
Currently I am running BP in “Microsoft Update” mode with ‘cashed mode’ enabled. I only have critical, security, and definitions selected.
I understand that within the Windows Update Messages column when it indicates “X update(s) found” it is telling me how many updated are available, not how many will be applied. I find that I have to initiate a “download and install” before I get the message telling me “There are no applicable updates.”
I find this to be cumbersome. Is there a way to show how many updates are actually needed per my classification filtering, opposed to showing how many total updates were found?
Thank you in advance.

First, I would strongly recommend that you select ‘critical,’ ‘security,’ ‘definition,’ ‘updates,’ ‘update rollups.’ Microsoft regularly delivers important updates under ‘updates’ and ‘update rollups’ too, so if you leave those unchecked you will be missing LOTS of important updates.
That said, if you still want to only select ‘critical,’ security,’ and ‘definition’ updates, then currently your best option would be to use the ‘Generate consolidated report of Windows Updates’ action. This will allow you to immediately see which updates will actually be applicable to your machines based on your selected classification filtering since there is a column in that report that will display the update classification, and the report grid can also be sorted by that same column, if desired.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I agree with you on ‘updates,’ and ‘update rollups.’ Right now I have the trial and I am testing functionality before I decide to use this in production.
Thank you for pointing out the ‘Generate consolidated report of Windows Updates’ option. However, it takes just as long to run this report as it does to initiate an install to get the “There are no applicable updates” message.
As a future feature request, it would be nice to see something in the [Windows Update Messages] column like “71 update(s) found. 0 applicable.” This would save a lot of time when looking and hundreds of systems.
Thanks again.

I have added your suggestion to our list. Thanks.
