    Hello,

I am trying BatchPatch before purchasing for some products we’re working on. These products are in an offline environment, so I am using BatchPatch to retrieve the list of required patches. As a test (since I am permitted 4 computers in demo mode), I used 2 Windows Server 2k8 R2 computers, one is a Domain Controller, one is not, and 2 Windows 7 x64 computers. The 2 Windows Server 2k8 searches finished in about 2 minutes…great! The Windows 7 ones are still going strong after two hours, and I fear that they are never going to finish. Assuming it’s not normal for a local search of one computer to take hours and hours (especially when each Windows 7 PC has 1/10 the space/content as the 2k8 Server computers), what’s going on here? Is there something I can do to troubleshoot?

There is not a lot of offline patch management software out there, so this one caught my eye, so I’m hoping there is something I can do here, because it seems like the offline mode just doesn’t work with Windows 7.

    Thanks!

Prelic – Please have a look at this link, which explains more about slow Windows 7 checking for updates. This is a Microsoft issue, not a BatchPatch issue. You may be able to resolve it by pre-installing a select few updates manually in order to speed up the search time. The link below has more details.

Checking for Available Windows Updates on Windows 7 Targets Takes Too Long

    Microsoft addresses it here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3200747
