New Feature – Staging Server for wsusscn2.cab file

Hi

Would be nice if BP could use a remote “staging area” for the wsusscn2.cab file.

When checking for available updates in remote countries having slow / unstable connections, it would be great if I could stage the .cab-file on a remote file-share / client, and then let BP use that staging area to redistribute the .cab-file to the rest of the clients.

Nice if you could mark a host in a tab as “staging machine” and when you deploy to that tab, all the other hosts use the staging machine for receiving .cab file (and maybe distribute the “cache” folder as well)

Any thought about a feature like that?

Hi Mats – Thanks for the suggestion. We will consider this, but I don’t think it’s likely something that we would do, as it would probably require a persistent agent to be installed on target machines, and there would still be a reliability issue for the connection between BP and the targets. The recommended approach/solution for the situation you describe is to simply run BP directly on the remote network instead.
