Hi,
another feature request: add the possibility to import computers (with wildcard for the CN like Server* or from specific OUs) to your list.
Cheers,
M.
January 31, 2011 at 8:30 pm #9405dougModeratorWill definitely consider it for a future build. Thanks!

I thought i did that one day but for the life of me can’t get it the way i would like anymore. I wouldn’t need it to automatically import but to have it do an export to a txt file would be great. Something to think about. If i ever get it figured out again i will send it over to you.
Thanks,
Ryan
February 1, 2011 at 4:57 pm #9407dougModeratorhpbigfoot – thanks for the suggestion. I do have plans to add more functionality like you describe.

March 29, 2011 at 2:04 pm #9408knutherParticipantyou can just copy the wsus clients from the reporting into a excel doc then cut out just the computer names and past them into the import of the batch patch program.. works fine that way..
but yes i would appreciate also a import from AD or what not.
September 2, 2011 at 2:41 pm #9412ksupportParticipantI would like to see AD import as well.

December 1, 2011 at 7:58 pm #9416jakeyParticipantWorks…but having to type in the entire FQDN makes it a little tedious. Any possibility that will be a browse in future builds? Also, any chance of being able to add systems by AD group membership? I tried using CN= as part of my FQDN and it didn’t recognize my group name.
Thanks for a great product!
December 2, 2011 at 1:15 am #9417dougModeratorjakey – this is just a first-run implementation, so there is definitely room for improvement. We’ll consider your suggestions.
However, right now it should auto populate the current domain. So like:
DC=myDomain,DC=com
If you want you can then pre-pend an OU like:
OU=HRComputers,OU=allComputers,DC=myDomain,DC=com
What I don’t understand is how you would want to use group membership. Wouldn’t you have user objects in a security group? Not computer objects, right? Am I missing something here?
Thanks,
Doug
January 12, 2012 at 3:57 pm #9419TravisParticipantWe have a rather large domain, and while specifiying the DN for a sub OU in Active Directory works great, I think having a browser as jakey mentioned would be nice as well. This way I could simple browse to the OU I will be patching and simply import from there.
Keep up the good work!
January 13, 2012 at 3:00 am #9420dougModeratorThanks Travis. It’s on the list for a future build.

August 8, 2012 at 7:23 pm #9431dougModeratorThe active directory picker has been updated in the latest build (published today, 20120808). You can now view the entire tree and add computers from containers, OUs, and groups.

August 29, 2012 at 2:30 am #9437andrew_fordParticipantHi Doug,
I have noticed this new AD directory picker but I can’t seem to figure out how to add computers from high up the tree.
For example, I have to go in to each OU to view the comps before I can add them to the list.
This is not very practical when dealing with a large number of OUs that contain a small number of computers.
Is there something I’m missing or will I have to revert to using an old EXE, exporting the computer list and importing it in to the new one?
Cheers

August 29, 2012 at 3:12 am #9438dougModeratorAndrew – I understand your dilemma. For right this minute, you’ll need to do as you described. However, we should be able to combine the functionality of the old picker with the new one to get the best of both worlds. I’ll try to get a new build posted with this update within the next couple of days. Sorry for the inconvenience.

August 29, 2012 at 5:44 pm #9439dougModeratorAndrew – I just published a new build that has a “Recursive Search” option in the Active Directory picker. This will give you what you’re looking for.
