I’ve been using BatchPatch on the same system for months now without any issues. But this week I ran into a problem during any sort of patch download. More specifically, downloads start but when they get to about 10-30% it just sits there and hangs indefinitely. I’m using Cached mode, and I see my cache directory fill up with a file or two. They even download partially.
So some of the obvious things I’ve tried…
– I’m able to download the same patches directly on the server using Windows Update without any sort of lag or issue
– I’ve tried downloading the updates from other servers using BP
– Rebooted the BP server and the servers I’m downloading from
– Deleted the remote working directories
– It hasn’t been any one specific update, seems like any/all of them failNot sure what else to try. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help!
January 23, 2020 at 2:30 pm #12185dougModeratorWhen using cached mode, the updates are downloaded by the computer that is running the BatchPatch console, not the target computers. That’s basically the whole purpose of cached mode. It sounds like maybe you’re just running out of space on your BatchPatch computer in the local update cache directory location. While I would expect it to throw an error if that were to happen, maybe it isn’t. At the moment I’m not sure exactly how it would behave in that situation, but I can’t think of anything else that could cause what you are describing.

It’s even working on the same VM it has download from before in the past. I’m sure that had nothing to do with it…. just seems odd. Been using that grid for months.
I did check space on all my disks, everything seems ok. So not sure.

Anyway… thanks for the quick feedback. I’m happy it’s working now.
