Hello,
I have a problem with this. I follow the next link:
https://batchpatch.com/windows-update-installation-filters
So I only want that when I check for available updates, only shows to me the updates that are in “Security updates” category… but it’s not in that way…
In “Search preferences” I check “Search for “only Important updates” and in the update classification I only check “Security Updates”, the rest I leave unchecked.
So with this configuration, when I check for updates, it find one of the “Update” classification and some “Critical” too…
So, what can I do to get only “Security” updates??
Thank you.
August 12, 2020 at 11:43 am #12450dougModeratorThe “Search Preferences” checkboxes apply to only the search for updates.
The “Update Classification Filtering” checkboxes apply to only the download and installation of updates.
When you use ‘Check for available updates’ it will search based only on the “Search Preferences.” This means that you will see all different types of updates listed as available for the target computer. However, if you then go to actually perform the download/installation, only the updates that have the classifications that you have ticked/checked/selected will be downloaded and installed. So if you have ONLY “Security Updates” checked, then only updates with the classification ‘Security Updates’ will be downloaded and installed.

So, when I have the search done, I’m going to the Filter and I see all updates from the “Search FIlter” but if I download or install, automatically aplies the “clasification” updates I selected on settings, there’s no necessary go to the filter after search and deselect the updates. Isn’t it?
August 13, 2020 at 2:25 am #12452dougModeratorI’m sorry to say I don’t understand you. Just check the boxes you want to include. Then perform the download and installation. Only updates with the classifications that you have checked will be downloaded/installed.
