Hello, I’m loving batchpatch and how easily it allows me to run updates on my workstations/servers manually instead of waiting for WSUS to catch up. I noticed that when I tell batchpatch to ‘Download and Install Updates’ it will say ‘Searching’ and then complete with ‘Windows Update: There are no applicable updates’. I login to the server and running windows updates manually gives me the same response. When I select the option (on the Windows Update application) Check online for updates from Microsoft Update it will find several critical updates. Is there a way to force it to look at Microsoft Update instead of the WSUS (set by GPO)? I’m guessing it’s that WSUS hasn’t downloaded these updates for whatever reason… strange.

In ‘Tools > Settings > Windows Update’ you can modify the ‘Server Selection’ to be your WSUS (default/managed), ‘Windows Update,’ or ‘Microsoft Update.’ You can also adjust the actual search to include all software updates or just the important/recommended updates.

Thank you I will give that a try, for this to work do I need to disable WSUS being automatically set by GPO?

    Thank you Doug.

I tried to do a Windows Updates – Download and Install Updates. It showed searching, then I changed the settings to what you recommended. Then I did a check for updates and received the following notification after I tried to Kill the search:

    Windows Update Messages

    Error 1611: 1. Failure – 13:24:08

When you kill the search it will produce an error. That is expected/normal.
